April 6, 2024Ottawa urged to crack down on immigration employment scam
April 6, 2024Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) plans to review the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) as part of the new Strategy: An Immigration System for Canada’s Future. The Strategy indicates forthcoming changes to improve processing and create a comprehensive immigration approach. This will be achieved through three pillars: enhancing the newcomer experience, aligning immigration with labour market needs, and developing a coordinated growth plan. The potential changes to IRPA fall under bettering the immigration experience, focusing on creating a modern, efficient, fair, transparent, predictable, and timely system. IRCC highlights the need for legislative amendments or reform to IRPA, which has yet to be extensively examined since its introduction in 2002.
